Sunday after church we did a little sightseeing in Matagalpa. I experienced a little deja vu.

Monday we started working in the village of El Salto.

We are replacing this

These houses are made with mud. The one in these pictures is 90 years old.

They will have aprox 260 sq feet with a cement floor instead of dirt when we finish.

The ladies worked on rebar. The most important part of the construction. Without the rebar the house cannot stand.

Safe and Sound in Matagalpa

Sunday morning in Matagalpa. We met Robert Gipson in Managua last night as planned. Raf and his crew were on hand to pick us up and we got in to Matagalpa 11ish. Tired but happy to be here. Pancakes appear to be the breakfast menu. The kids better not be late or there may not be anything left.

Omar and Fedelina look great. They were out to meet us last night. Fedelina says her back is better, but I bet she would say that no matter how it felt. It is very good to see them both. I will get some pictures up after church today and we will post our schedule for the week. I will try to get the kids to post a little.

We completed leg 1 of the trip. Arrived in Atlanta with 11 out of 11. We have a 7 hour layover so we will see if we still have all 11 when its time to board the plane this evening.

Our mission team from Western Hills UMC in El Paso Texas is getting ready to head out to Matagalpa, Nicaragua. We will leave El Paso at 6am Saturday (7 March, 2015). Our mission is to spread the love of Christ in the world. Our task will be to work on building a house and to refurbish a well. Here is a video of the water project.

Come back every day and see how we are doing.
